Microsoft partners with Radvision and AudioCodes

Microsoft Corp. and Tel Aviv-based media conferencing company Radvision, have signed a licensing agreement that will enable third-party developers to integrate the communications capabilities of Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 with additional SIP communications platforms. As part of the agreement, the world's largest software company is licensing to Radvision the SIP extensions for live communications server and Radvision will implement and integrate the extensions into its toolkit products and offer the extensions to third-party developers. Microsoft is also working with Airport City-based AudioCodes, a provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies. AudioCodes said its Mediant and MediaPack SIP VoIP Gateways provide key interoperability solutions that enable Microsoft Exchange "12" unified messaging to connect to an enterprise's existing voice network. Microsoft Exchange "12" is the code name for Microsoft's next version of its leading server for e-mail, calendaring and unified messaging expected to be available towards the beginning of next year. Cellular network provider Orange, operated by Partner Communications, has launched an advanced Internet surfing application for its 3.5 Generation business customers. Partner will market the modem cards to enable the application, which is based on Nortel's HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) technology, allowing for an increase of up to three times the download rate. Elsewhere, Herzliya-based Flash Networks said downloading mobile data over HSDPA proved up to four times faster using the company's NettGain system in a field test in a live network in Western Europe. Tel Aviv-based provider of brand security and protection services, Domain The Net (www.DomainTheNet.com), has developed 3 new anti-pharming and brand security solutions. The solutions - NameWatch, NameSecure, and NameLock are intended to prevent and identify pharming attacks and provide a solution for thefts, hijacking and takeovers of domain names and Websites. Beersheba-based Yitran Communications has won the tender to provide the baseline technology for the Homeplug command and control specification for the the HomePlug Powerline Alliance. The company beat nine companies from around the world bidding for the contract. Yakum-based wireless solutions provider Metalink has entered into a cooperation with Chinese electrical appliance company Haier Corporation to develop advanced consumer electronics products enabling unmatched wireless multimedia networking throughout the home, based on the IEEE 802.11n standard. Qadima-based SuperCom Ltd., a provider of smart card and electronic identification (e-ID) solutions, said its chief financial officer Eyal Tuchman will succeed Avi Schechter as chief executive officer in April.
