Israel nabs 3 Palestinians involved in drive-by shooting

Israel arrested a Palestinian security officer who was allegedly involved in a drive-by shooting which wounded an Israeli near a West Bank settlement earlier this year, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) announced on Wednesday.The Palestinian, apprehended this past May in a joint operation conducted by the Shin Bet and the IDF, has been identified as Ayad Adnan Daoud, a 30-year-old policeman from Kalkilya.Israel alleges that on March 13 of this year, Daoud opened fire at an Israeli man who was standing at a bus station adjacent to the entrance to the settlement of Kedumim.Authorities also arrested Daoud’s brothers, Baha’a Daoud and Mohammed Daoud, for allegedly acting as accomplices in the shooting.According to the Shin Bet, Daoud confessed to the shooting and his brothers acknowledged assisting him in the crime.Prior to his arrest by Israel, he was detained by Palestinian Authority security services, who questioned him about the shooting. After denying any involvement, he was released.The three men await trial before a military tribunal in the West Bank.
