The Samaria Military Court on Wednesday indicted Palestinian Salam Zagal for the murder of an Israeli stabbed to death at the Tapuah junction in late April. The victim, Evyatar Borovsky from the Yitzhar settlement, was married and a father of five.Zagal is accused of going to the Tapuah junction in the northern West Bank on the morning of April 30 armed with a knife, and mortally stabbing Borovsky as he waited for a ride.Zagal then grabbed Borovsky’s pistol and tried to flee, while firing shots at Border Police officers closing in on him, according to the indictment. Zagal was shot and moderately wounded, and then arrested.Zagal, from Shufa near Tulkarm, was released from prison seven months ago after serving time for rockthrowing. His brother is serving a sentence in a Palestinian Authority prison for allegedly collaborating with Israel, and it is suspected that Zagal stabbed Borovsky to “return honor” to the family name.Borovsky’s murder triggered riots and violence by settlers toward Palestinians in the West Bank, and his name has been spray-painted several times by “price tag” vandals.
