KKL head asks for meeting of organizations on Pittsburgh after shooting

The head of the Keren Kayemet Le’Israel, Danny Atar, wrote a letter on Sunday calling for a meeting of organizations that deal with the relationship of Israel to the Jewish people, following the murders of 11 worshipers at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Congregation.Atar sent the letter to Diaspora Affairs Minister Naftali Bennett, Jewish Agency chairman Isaac Herzog and World Zionist Organization head Avraham Duvdevani.“Following the shocking act of antisemitic terror in Pittsburgh in which Jews were killed for being Jews in the world’s biggest democracy and ally of Israel, the organizations responsible for Israel-Diaspora relations must meet to plan strategy to strengthen the security of Diaspora Jewry,” Atar wrote.Atar said that with the proper cooperation and allocation of resources, further acts of antisemitic terrorism could be prevented. He said Bennett should host the meeting.“This would send a message that the people of Israel stand behind and will protect every Jew, wherever they are,” Atar said.
