A Jewish man was stabbed in the neck Saturday morning in Antwerp, according to initial reports.
The man reportedly suffered serious wounds but his condition was not life-threatening.
Police have arrested one suspect while the motives behind the incident were yet unknown, according to Belgium's VTM Nieuws.
Initial reports identified the victim as a rabbi, who was attacked while walking under a railway bridge near the second largest Belgian city's Jewish quarter when a passerby attacked him with a knife.
In May, a gunman opened fired in the Jewish museum in Belgium, killing four people including two Israelis.
