At his annual Succot party, Kadima MK says he will lead the party that remains the only alternative to the "bad, failing government."

MK Shaul Mofaz announced his plans to lead Kadima, and become the next prime minister of Israel during an event in his succa in Kochav Yair on Sunday.“I have heard the voices and the suggestions and noticed the atmosphere, and I want to say Kadima was, and remains, the only alternative to [Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu’s bad, failing government,” Mofaz told party activists.RELATED:Shaul Mofaz: Now is the time to repair ties with TurkeyMofaz complains PM withholding information from c'tee“We cannot allow Netanyahu to bring our country’s situation from bad to worse for the third time,” the Kadima MK added.“I will lead Kadima to victory in the next elections, and as prime minister I will bring a deep change in priorities in the State of Israel.”Mofaz, who is also the chairman of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, explained that he will lead with an emphasis on socioeconomic matters.Nearly 700 Kadima members attended the Succot party, which Mofaz has held annually in recent years.Meanwhile, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz (Likud) expressed confidence in his party’s status at his own Succot party on Sunday.“The Likudniks who left to Kadima now realize they made a mistake,” Katz told Likud activists. “They joined a party with no roots.”Gil Hoffman contributed to this report.
