Lapid says there's 'no chance' he would join Kadima
In Facebook message, former journalist turned politician calls Kadima a "group of cynical politicians."

Former television personality and recently-announced political contender Yair Lapid ruled out joining Kadima late on Thursday night.“One thing must be clear: There is no chance I will join Kadima,” Lapid wrote on his Facebook page. “They are a group of cynical politicians that were thrown out of other parties, and no one knows what they believe, if anything.”RELATED:Yair Lapid would destroy Kadima, poll finds “Is that clear enough?” Since announcing he was leaving Channel 2 to become a politician, Lapid has refused to be interviewed, communicating with the public through his column in Yediot Aharonot and his Facebook page.Earlier, Kadima council chairman Haim Ramon said repeatedly in radio interviews that Lapid should join Kadima.Party leader Tzipi Livni said Lapid is drafting a platform identical to Kadima’s.She said that to strengthen the opposition there must only be one candidate for prime minister in the bloc.Also on Thursday night, Lapid called Labor Leader Shelly Yacimovich “radical” in matters of economics and diplomacy, adding he does not ideologically connect to her views, and therefore would not join her party.In response, Yacimovich took to her own Facebook page to point out that no one had asked Lapid to join Labor.“If social-democracy, an economy that is balanced by a free market and the state’s responsibility for social justice is too radical, then he’s better off joining Netanyahu the capitalist,” she wrote.Gil Hoffman contributed to this report.
