By GOURMETKOSHERCOOKING.COMCOFFEE-FLAVORED BRISKET1 (5 pound) brisket or shoulder roast1 tablespoon oil2 onions, sliced2 (8 ounce) packages sliced mushrooms2 teaspoons minced garlic3 cups brewed coffee (you can use instant in a pinch)1 teaspoon chili powder½ teaspoon pepperPreheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large frying pan, brown meat on all sides and place in roasting pan. In the same pan, sauté the onions, mushrooms and garlic for about 5 minutes and then pour over the meat. sprinkle with spices, pour coffee over and cover. Cook for 4 to 5 hours. Remove from oven and let stand ½ hour before slicing. Reheats or freezes well.
