After $50 million donation, Israel's newest medical school to be renamed
The $50 million donation is the largest ever made by the Azrieli Foundation.

Bar-Ilan University’s Galilee Faculty of Medicine in Safed will be renamed Azrieli Faculty of Medicine, following the donation of $50 million to country’s newest medical school for expanding its facilities.The naming ceremony for the Azrieli Faculty and the first graduation ceremony of the six-year-old medical school will take place on campus on November 23.The event will be attended by Interior Minister Arye Deri, Health Minister Ya’acov Litzman, Dr. Naomi Azrieli and Dana Azrieli, who head the Azrieli Foundation in Canada and Israel.Also present will be university president Prof. Arie Zaban, faculty dean Prof. Ran Tur-Kaspa and other guests.The $50 million donation is the largest ever made by the Azrieli Foundation. The Israel government has agreed to grant a similar amount for the expansion of the medical faculty.The Faculty of Medicine includes Israeli students who have completed their academic studies in medicine abroad and went on to clinical work in hospitals and students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in science studies and wish to undergo medical studies.
