Afghan soldier, several fighters killed in clash in eastern Afghanistan

Militants ambushed an Afghan army convoy in eastern Afghanistan, and several fighters and a soldier were killed in the ensuing battle, the Afghanistan Defense Ministry said Sunday.
The clash happened Saturday while the soldiers were on patrol in a mountainous area near a military camp in Kunar province's Kandagal area, a statement from the ministry said.
A number of fighters were also wounded during the clash, the statement said.
