Portman condemns Dior designer for anti-Semitic words
Actress says she is "shocked, disgusted" by John Galliano's remarks which "remind us to reflect, act in combating still-existing prejudices."
By JPOST.COM STAFFActress Natalie Portman on Monday condemned Christian Dior chief designer John Galliano for anti-Semitic comments made at a bar in Paris, France which appeared on an online YouTube video.“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today," Portman said in a statement. "In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way."RELATED:Natalie Portman wins Oscar for best actress Jews sweep Oscar nominations "I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful," Portman added.Portman is currently under an endorsement contract with Dior for its "Dior Cherie" fragrance.Galliano was suspended by Dior on Friday as a result of the incident.
