UK diplomats detained in Zimbabwe have been released, a British official said Thursday.
American diplomats traveling with the British also were stopped, but Downing Street has not discussed their status.
The British government also has summoned Zimbabwe's ambassador to explain an attack on the diplomats at a roadblock north of Zimbabwe's capital, Harare.
Downing Street spokesman Michael Ellam said Thursday that the British diplomats were safe following the incident in which they were detained and later released.
