British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Monday his country wanted a constructive relationship with Russia, but underlined that "action has to be taken" on a request to extradite a suspect in the poisoning of a former KGB agent in London.
"We want the best possible relationship with Russia," Brown said at a joint news conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. But he added "when a murder is committed on British soil," he said, "action has to be taken."
