Several explosions rocked a two-story building of apartments and shops in Sierra Leone's capital Friday, killing 14 people, authorities said.
Health Minister Soccoh Kabia confirmed the death toll and said about 40 other people had been injured.
The cause of the blasts was not known.
"The government is setting up a commission of inquiry into the cause," Kabia said. "That's all I can tell you for now."
One of the injured, Rugiatu Bah, worked as a saleswoman in the building. She said a fire broke out in one of the shops, which was full of used clothes. As firefighters tried to put it out, several explosions rang out.
