'Iranian border guards clash with Kurdish separatists, kill one'
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF
Iranian state radio says border guards have killed a Kurdish gunman in a shootout in the northwest of the country.
The report on Sunday said the suspect was part of a group planning to infiltrate into Iran.
Iran has been carrying out strikes against a Kurdish separatist group, known as the PEJAK, based on Mount Qandil inside Iraq, near the Iranian border.
The group is the Iranian wing of Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, which is fighting for Kurdish autonomy in Turkey.
