As Likud Convention opens in Eilat, questions rise about party's future

Likud members gather on Thursday for the annual convention in the southern city of Eilat, where they'll be asked where they stand should Netanyahu face court.

Likud members began making their way to Eilat on Thursday  where the national party convention, called Leumiada [Nation-Fest], began. The convention is meant to be a weekend event that ends on Saturday night.

The convention is visited by influential Likud politicians, Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev was filmed there this morning by Channel 12 news, and is the scene where the party is meant to take a stand on a variety of issued ahead of the upcoming April elections.
In a tweet, Regev said that her team "got up early this morning to add color" to the event and asked her supporters to vote for her.

Members will be asked where they stand should Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stand in court after a prolonged police inquiry into his alleged corruption charges.
Another issue is what would the party do if the Likud joins forces with the freshly created New Right Party, or, perhaps, the center-leaning Israel Resilience Party, a new party headed by Benny Gantz.
Provocative politician Oren Hazan  saw to it that banners with his likeness and the slogan "an in-your-face voice for truth" were hung on the road to Eilat.
