Who runs the world? Rumors.
When pop mega-star Beyonce announced her Formation world tour following her Super Bowl appearance on Sunday, Israel’s online rumor mill swung into full gear.
By Tuesday, a Facebook group called “Beyonce Israel” had created a Facebook event for a Queen Bey concert in Park Hayarkon on August 3.
Over 16,000 people said they were going, and 18,000 people expressed interest.
Despite the fact that Israel was conspicuously absent from the tour list on Beyonce’s website, Flawless doctored photos circulated with Israel added at the end. Few bothered to check the original source.
Websites such as Happyintlv and Tourist Israel happily posted unconfirmed stories that put the Israeli Bey Hive and all the Single Ladies in a tizzy. When such rumors are reinforced from every which way, their spread is [Sasha] Fierce.
The only problem? There’s been no official confirmation.
Promoters are still denying that a deal has been signed.
Fans are having trouble putting a Partition between rumor and reality.
On Thursday, mainstream news sites such as Ynet and Channel 2 reported that the tour visit was on, which may have been a relief to Mrs. Carter’s fans if those sites had a better track record.

In 2014, Channel 2 also reported that Beyonce would be adding an Israel date to her tour. But after all the hype, the news sites had to put all the rumors in a box to the left.
Perhaps to atone, Channel 2 in September ran a segment on why a Beyonce visit to Israel was unlikely.
But don’t let that make you Blue [Ivy]. As The Jerusalem Post’s David Brinn recently wrote, Israel has gone through the same process with Bruce Springsteen, who is also rumored (but not confirmed) for the umpteenth time to be planning an Israel show.
It’s possible that this time around, the deals will get inked and Beyonce will, in fact, perform in Tel Aviv and join the rank of stars such as The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Bon Jovi and soon Elton John.
But in the meantime, fans should be wary and not assume that a visit is fated by Destiny[’s Child].
