Barby Nights – Dinosaur Jr. and Gogol Bordello return to Israel

The next night, indie pop-grunge stalwarts Dinosaur Jr. will likely blow the walls off the Barby with their distorted but sweet variations on the Crazy Horse meets Nirvana theme.

Two of rock’s most tantalizing live acts are making return visits to Israel in June as part of the weeklong Barby Nights festival at Tel Aviv’s Barby Club – Gogol Bordello on June 16 and Dinosaur Jr. on June 17.
The always entertaining New York gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello achieved legendary status in Israel thanks to electrifying shows in 2009 and 2011. Led by the mischievous Eugene Hutz, Gogol offers a dazzling multi-ethnic musical mix, ranging from Hutz’s Ukrainian roots to the international influences of the other band members.
The next night, indie pop-grunge stalwarts Dinosaur Jr. will likely blow the walls off the Barby with their distorted but sweet variations on the Crazy Horse meets Nirvana theme.
Alternative rock stalwarts in the ’90s, the band’s original lineup of J Mascis, Lou Barlow and Murph reunited in 2007 and have since become even more prolific.
Last year’s Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not ended up on many a top 10 albums of the year lists. The band last performed in Israel in 2008 and ear drums haven’t been the same since.
Barby Nights will also include shows by Dutch symphonic metal band Epica on June 14, local heroes Mashina on June 15 and American rapper Tyler, The Creator on June 28. Tickets to all shows are available at www.barby.co.il.
