IDF soldier suffers stab wounds near West Bank checkpoint
The assailant was apprehended. Israeli security forces are on their way to the scene of the incident.

An Israeli soldier suffered light stab wounds at a checkpoint in the northern West Bank on Thursday.The attack took place near the Oranit settlement. The assailant, apparently a Palestinian, was apprehended. Magen David Adom paramedics treated the soldier, 22, at the scene of the incident. They said that the soldier was stabbed in his head and limbs.“A short time ago, the IDF arrested six Palestinians who hopped the fence near the Trans-Samaria Checkpoint,” the army said in a statement.“One of the soldiers suffered light stab wounds on his head and shoulder. After the stabbing, the soldier apprehended the assailant.“The soldier was rushed to hospital for treatment,” the army said. “The Palestinians, including the stabber, were taken into custody by security forces.”The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) released a statement on Thursday describing the assailant as “a minor from the West Bank town of Tulkarm.”According to the Shin Bet, the Palestinian youth has no previous record of engaging in hostile activity. The attacker had tried to enter Israel without a permit and during an IDF security check the youth pulled out a knife and stabbed the soldier.
