Defense Minister Naftali Bennett released a statement after the demolition was confirmed, saying that, "Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that there will be no more terror, but we must charge a heavy price to anyone who raises his hand against Israel's citizens.
"Jewish blood is not forsaken," he added.
"We support the IDF soldiers and security forces who tonight demolished the houses of the terrorists who killed Dvir Sorek," said Shlomo Ne'eman, the head of the Gush Etzion Regional Council. "Targeted harm to terrorists and their property is the minimum required in the war on terror. The real answer should be collective punishment, including those who sent them and who support them, which needs to come alongside the building and expansion of settlements. This is the successful answer to terror that accomplishes deterrence against the wrongdoers who come to harm us.
"The equation needs to be simple: those who try to destroy a house of Israel will have their house destroyed by Israel," he said.
"We congratulate the security forces on the demolition of the lowly terrorists' houses," said the NGO Im Tirtzu in a statement on Thursday. "We expect the government to continue to promote deterrence against terrorists and their family members.
"The demolition of the terrorists' houses is only a first step," the statement continued. "The families of the terrorists should be deported, and the celebrations of these lowly terrorists in the prisons should be stopped. The blood of Dvir Sorek cries out from the earth, and we will do everything in order that he will be the last victim of terror."
According to the Hebrew outlet Walla, during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, clashes erupted between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian youth who tried to block the roads to the military vehicles in the Beit Kahil village.
On August 7, Sorek was kidnapped and stabbed multiple times. His body was found on the ground not far from the security gate of the Migdal Oz settlement.
The young man was a soldier, but he was unarmed and not in uniform at the time of the attack. He was enrolled in the Hesder military program at the Orthodox Machanayim Yeshiva in Migdal Oz. His intention was to serve in the IDF as a soldier while still being a yeshiva student.
