Pilgrimage commemorates receiving of Torah, community’s longing to return to the Holy City of Jerusalem.

Members of the Ethiopian Jewish community on Thursday marked the Sigd holiday, commemorating the receiving of the Torah and the community’s longing to return to the Holy City of Jerusalem.

The pilgrimage is generally celebrated on the 29th of Heshvan, 50 days after Yom Kippur, but this year the holiday was celebrated two days earlier due to the date falling on a Saturday.
