Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein met with the Speaker of British House of Commons John Bercow at the Knesset on Monday. It is the first time that a sitting speaker of the House of Commons visited the Knesset. Bercow will attend a series of meetings and events on Tuesday and will join the "Young Knesset Week" in which youth will participate in the Knesset activity including committee and plenum discussions.Edelstein welcomed Bercow in the Knesset plenum and stated that the visit has a special historic value. "The United Kingdom and Israel share a significant joint history," he said. "I hope that we could continue strengthening our parliamentarian relations. I also wish to praise Britain on its unambiguous stance and its input in the fight against antisemitism," he added.
