Zionist Union MK: Netanyahu's legal troubles could lead to early elections

Margalit stated that Netanyahu receives funds via "corrupt methods."

Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit plans to make the first official statement about an ongoing preliminary investigation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week, Channel 2 reported on Saturday.
Rumors whispered in the political sphere for weeks have spread with new intensity in recent days as several outlets reported a new investigation of the prime minister, though details remain sparse.
According to Channel 2, the probe is of suspicions that a Netanyahu family member received money for non-political purposes.
The testimony the police gathered does not strongly indicate criminal activity, and may necessitate a deeper investigation, the report stated.
On Monday, while in Africa, Netanyahu was asked about the allegations and called them “nonsense.”
MK Erel Margalit (Zionist Union) addressed the investigation at a cultural event in Rishon Lezion on Saturday afternoon, saying “the political system must prepare to hold an election soon because it appears that Netanyahu will not finish his term untarnished.”
He added: “Netanyahu spends 80 percent of his time silencing suspicions and investigations and connected to some of the largest swindlers in Europe – the current concerns about receiving funds not related to elections is much more than suspicion.”
