Prof. Haviva Pedaya to receive Gershom Scholem Prize for Kabbalah Research
In its decision the prize committee noted Prof. Pedaya's ability to connect complex issues in the study of Kabbalah with central questions in religious science.

Prof. Haviva Pedaya of Ben Gurion University of the Negev is to be awarded the Gershom Scholem Prize for Kabbalah Research on Wednesday by The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Gershom Scholem Foundation. The NIS 45,000 prize, which is awarded every four years to an outstanding researcher in the field of Kabbalah, will be awarded by the Academy’s President Prof. Nili Cohen in a ceremony at the Academy in Jerusalem. In its decision the prize committee noted Prof. Pedaya's ability to connect complex issues in the study of Kabbalah with central questions in religious science and in the research of culture and the history of knowledge.The prize is awarded in the memory of Gershom Scholem, the Academy’s third president and a scholar of Kabbalah and mysticism. The prize recipient is selected by a committee appointed by the President of the Academy.
