Tikkun Olam started off its first Singapore Makeathon, which will include nine teams who will seek to solve issues that trouble 13 disabled Singaporeans. The winners will be picked by Israel’s ambassador to Singapore Simona Halperin and GOH MK Indranee Rajah. Rajah is the fourth woman to serve as Minister in her country.
The founder of Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM), an NGO that connects people with special needs and technology makers who can help them, Gidi Grinstein will also be present. TOM currently works in 20 countries.
"Bringing Israeli mentors and Singaporean makers to design solutions...is the best way of celebrating Singapore and Israel 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations,” Halperin said.
The three winning teams will be announced on Sunday evening.
