Settlers reportedly attack property and residents of Palestinian village

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Over 50 Israeli settlers reportedly entered a Palestinian village in the West Bank, where they vandalized property and threw stones at residents.The Israelis came from the northern West Bank settlement of Yitzhar, the human rights NGO Yesh Din told Israeli news outlets. The incident in the Palestinian village of Urif occurred on Saturday evening, according to reports.A spokesman for Yitzhar told the Times of Israel that the incident began after some Palestinians came to an almond orchard near the settlement, threw rocks and lightly injured a settler.Israeli soldiers who arrived on the scene fired tear gas and bullets at the Palestinian residents who confronted the settlers, but did not try to contain the settlers, according to Yesh Din.The incident was captured on camera, the NGO said.
