Around 500 spectators turned out to watch the Israel Stand up paddle surfing (SUP) competition at Nahsholim Beach south of Atlit on Saturday.
Two-hundred and seventy athletes from across the country took part in the competition.
Itzik Horesh, 24, the SUP wave champion of 2013-2014, won first place in the men's ten kilometer category.
Golan Goiterz, Horesh's trainer said the competition at Nahsholim was good practice for the 2016 world SUP championship. But Goiterz bemoaned that Horesh was insufficiently challenged in Israel.
"We are aiming to go train abroad to prepare Itzik the best way we can," the trainer said.
Shahar Tzuberi, who won a bronze medal in windsurfing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, also came out for the event.
