The World Jewish Congress (WJC) called on the Swedish government to combat the Nordic Resistance neo-Nazi party (NMR) after it marched the streets of Swedish cities on May 1.WJC CEO and Executive Vice President Robert Singer said that “there must be zero tolerance for such manifestations of evil.” In a letter to Swedish Prime Minster Stefan Löfven Singer wrote “a ban on NMR, as is currently being urged in the courts in Finland, would prevent it from entering the political arena.”The Nordic Resistance movement was founded by Klas Lund, and has branches in Norway, Denmark and Finland. It is seen by many in Sweden as a threat to its democracy due to its usage of violent rhetoric and deploying militia-like training and means.
