A foreign worker from Costa Rica was on the lam Friday after eluding the custody of an airline employee.
The man was deported from Israel to Costa Rica on Thursday on an Iberia Airlines flight out of Tel Aviv. During a layover in Spain, the worker refused to board the second leg of his flight to Costa Rica and was accordingly returned to Israel.
Upon arrival at Ben-Gurion Airport, the man was placed with the Immigration Police while the airline representative went to hand his passport over to Israeli authorities.
The worker fled, and police were pursuing him.
No statements were available from either Iberia Airlines or the Immigration Police. The reason for the man's deportation were unknown.
