The Finance Ministry on Thursday voiced its opposition on Thursday to a tuition compromise proposed by Education Minister Yuli Tamir in hopes of ending the 22-day-old student strike, saying that there was no budget for such a plan.
Tamir's proposal includes a three-percent reduction in tuition fees - a central issue for the students, who are protesting the Shochat Committee reforms.
However, Israel Radio reported that a Finance Ministry source said the plan had not been coordinated with the ministry, and that there was no budgetary support for it.
