"The negotiations to release Gilad Schalit are frozen because of Israel's stance," Abu Obeida, spokesman of Hamas's military wing told the pan-Arabic Al-Quds al Arabi, Wednesday.
Abu Obeida strongly denied reports that claimed Hamas had allowed Red Cross representatives to visit Schalit in captivity in the Gaza Strip.
"Such suggestions were made in the past, but we rejected them for security reasons," he said.
Negotiations between Israel and Hamas to release Schalit were stopped after Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in June, when the Egyptian delegation which served as interlocutor fled the Strip.
On Tuesday, the spokesman of the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), one of the three organizations which jointly captured Schalit, said the captors were treating him humanely.
"We behave morally towards Gilad Schalit and follow Islam's teachings. We cannot let ourselves be motivated by wrath," he said.
