An IDF soldier was killed on Thursday in a training accident in southern Israel.The soldier, St.-Sgt. Omri Shoshan, was shot in the back during a training exercise at Mt. Keren – the Givati Brigade’s training base – in the South. Shoshan, a squad commander, was leading his troops during a live-fire drill when was accidentally shot and died of his wounds.The IDF launched a military police investigation into the incident and OC Ground Forces Command Maj.-Gen. Sammy Turgeman suspended all training in the IDF until the investigation is completed.The last fatality from a training accident was in December, when Cpl. Mor Cohen, 18-years-old at the time, was killed during a training session in an urban warfare training facility in the Golan Heights. During the live-fire exercise, a bullet penetrated the concrete wall of one of the structures and struck Cohen, killing him.
