Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi is set to arrive in Israel next week.
Prodi's visit will include a trip to Sderot, where he will become the first foreign head of state to visit the rocket-devastated western Negev town, Army Radio reported.
The Italian prime minister will also meet Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defense Minster Ehud Barak.
Discussions will focus on the situation in the Gaza Strip and sanctions against Iran.
