The Knesset will convene Monday for a special session during its summer recess to discuss the state stipends to Holocaust survivors living in Israel.
The session was called for by 50 MKs of most opposition parties, including extreme left-wing Arab parties.
The MKs emphasized especially 85,000 survivors who managed to escape the Nazis and came to the Soviet Union. Most of these survivors came to Israel only in recent years, following the dissolution of the Soviet regime.
The recent agreement between Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and representatives of survivors found a solution only to the difficulties of survivors who were in concentration camps during the war.
