Poraz defeated by little-known contender in Shunui

Ron Leventhal won the second spot in Shinui, defeating party co-founder Avraham Poraz to win the position in an upset.
Yosef (Tommy) Lapid had reportedly said that if Poraz was not part of Shinui, he too would leave the party, which has been plagued by a drift of voters leaving the party for Kadima.
Poraz had been seen as a controversial figure within the party, arguing that Shinui could be maintained without much of the usual structure in Israel's parties, including a central committee.
