Over 5,000 people are participating in the traditional Succot march in Jerusalem on Thursday.
The route of the morning march was planned from the Sataf parking lot to Sacher Park. In the afternoon, participants will march from Sacher Park to Jaffa Gate at the entrance to the Old City on Thursday afternoon.
Those who would likely not enjoy the holiday walk are city drivers. Between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. major routes in Jerusalem will be closed, including Ben-Zvi Blvd., Betzal'el, Ben-Yehuda, Be'eri, King George, Jaffa Road between the Davidka and Tzahal squares, Shlomzion Hamalka, Koresh, Agron, King David, Kariv, Shamai, and Hillel.
Police requested that the public avoid driving to those parts of the city, and urged residents to use public transportation.
Succot is one of three Jewish holidays that included a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem before it was destroyed.
