Since his appointment, Gotlieb has returned to Israel from the US, where he is studying at Harvard University. The average age of the jurists is 85, and their appointment has led to some speculation that the government is not taking the matter of the probe seriously. Attention has focused particularly on Shabtai Rosen, 93, who was photographed a week and a half ago at home in his pajamas next to his Filipino caretaker. The Terkel Committee also includes two foreign observers, Kenneth “Ken” Watkin, 56, the former Judge Advocate General of the Canadian Forces, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Northern Ireland politician, David Trimble, 65.
