The sales of kosher foods are expected to grow 11.5% by 2025 because Israeli and Jewish foods are trendy, new market research shows.
According to Supermarketnews.com, the new popularity will add 25 billion dollars in sales of kosher foods by 2025. Next to organic and gluten-free foods, kosher foods are growing in popularity.
Since most people who purchase kosher foods do not keep kosher, a supermarket can boost its marketing sales through a specific selection of popular kosher items. Deborah Shapiro, Vice President of Kosher Network International (KNI), stated “The average basket of a kosher consumer is $75 on bi-weekly trips or $200 on single weekly trips and only 10% of these baskets come from the specialty kosher sections…. Having the right kosher items in your store can drive total store sales.”
This popularity of kosher foods has also translated into web searches. The KNI website, Joyofkosher.com, received 2 million new visits this year with 60% of the traffic received from search engines. KNI noted that it is millennial parents, ages 25-35, that are driving the popularity and moving kosher away from niche market to mainstream.
Shapiro recommends advertising kosher products more prominently. “[Not emphasizing kosher foods] is a missed sales opportunity to a fast-growing consumer base that is more diverse now than ever.”
