We Jews indulge in mitosis as often as any living cell around. We divide into branches and subbranches of religion and politics. We have fancy Reform temples and gay and lesbian synagogues. We have new age Zohar-friendly spaces and Satmars and Lubavitchers and messianic and secular Zionists. We divide into believers and non-believers. We had Leninists and Stalinists, Marxists and Trotskyites and their devoted foes. We had Rosa and Emma and Golda and those who hated and feared them. So it is no surprise that we have a bridgeless chasm between the Jewish left and Jewish right in America.
