Ra'anana is the most sought-after city in the Sharon for family-sized apartments, followed by Herzliya, according to a survey of 1,200 Israelis published on www.local.co.il. The survey found that while residents of other Sharon cities, such as Hod Hasharon and Kfar Saba, were willing to move to Ra'anana, residents of Ra'anana were unwilling to leave their leafy city for any other.
According to the report, a five-room apartment costs some NIS 1.85 million in Ra'anana, but it is considered the most desirable Sharon city in which to live, with respondents describing it as "good for residents, elitist and expensive." Herzliya came in second place, with the survey finding that for the first time, Ramat Hasharon residents were expressing an interest in moving "over the border" to Herzliya.
The survey also found that Hod Hasharon, which contains several upmarket new neighborhoods, was considered an up-and-coming, "dynamic and young" city and was much sought after by residents from across the central area. By contrast, Kfar Saba had an "aging image" and was not seen as particularly attractive by residents from outside the city.
