Report suggests that Egyptian president may travel to Germany for a "prolonged health check" in bid to end political chaos.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak may travel to Germany as a patient in part of an exit strategy proposed by the United States, the online version of German newspaper Der Spiegel reported Monday.The US government’s plan to end to the political chaos in Egypt appeared to be a scenario in which Mubarak would travel to Germany for a “prolonged health check,” the report suggested.RELATED:Peres: Change in leadership not enough for EgyptOpinion: A Turkish model for Egypt?Ban: Egyptian stability important for Mideast peaceThe New York Times reported over the weekend that the US government was holding secret talks to that effect with Egyptian military officials.Spiegel Online cited sources close to the clinic as saying that talks were already being held with suitable hospitals, particularly with Max- Grundig-Klinik Bühlerhöhe in the southwestern town of Bühl, near Baden-Baden.According to the report, the hospital’s management declined to comment.There have been rumors that 82-year-old Mubarak is suffering from cancer.
