Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowed on Friday that “the Zionist regime and its supporters will one day go into extinction.”On the eve of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, the Iranian leader urged the Islamic world to unite in waging war against the “the enemies of Islam, chief among them Israel.”“The Muslim nations must take up positions along the arrogant Zionist front which wants to drive a wedge between Muslims,” Khamenei told his deputies. “The scheming enemy wants to fan the flames of war between Muslims. I urge all of you to put Muslim unity at the top of your priorities.”The leader of the Islamic Republic claimed that Islamic State and al-Qaida are “creations of the West, particularly the Americans and their allies in the region, despite their denials.”Khamenei also made remarks about Operation Protective Edge, which he referred to as “a miracle.”“The resistance succeeded to bringing the Zionist entity to submission in a war that revealed to us that the Zionist enemy, which symbolizes the criminality of the West, has no limits when it comes to cruelty while they trample all norms of humanity and ethics,” he said.“Contrary to their foolish aims, the Zionist regime and its supporters are very close to collapse and total extinction.”
