The Iraqi government says an Iranian detained by US forces at the Baghdad airport has been released.
Deputy Foreign Minister Labid Abbawi says the Iraqi government contacted the Americans and asked them to release the Iranian because his presence in the country was legitimate.
He told The Associated Press Saturday that the Iranian was released Friday.
The US military says the Iranian had been in Iraqi custody and referred other questions on the issue to the government.
