A Jordanian air force jet crashed outside the capital Amman Sunday in the second military aircraft crash within a week, a military official said. It is believed that the two pilots aboard were killed.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash, the official said insisting on anonymity in line with standing air force regulations.
He said the fighter jet was on a training mission and nose-dived into a farm in the town of Ein al-Basha, 20 kilometers north of Amman.
Initial reports indicate that the two pilots aboard the plane may have been killed, but that there were no other fatalities on the ground, he added.
Last Monday, two pilots aboard an air force helicopter were killed when it crashed in an unspecified location during a routine training mission.
