Israeli forces opened fire at a car full of Palestinian gunmen in this West Bank town early Saturday, killing one gunman and wounding at least two others, according to Israeli and Palestinian officials.
Palestinian security officials said the men belonged to Islamic Jihad, a radical group that has carried out dozens of attacks on Israelis. The officials said one member was killed and three others were wounded.
The Israeli army said special forces opened fire on the car after spotting three armed men inside the vehicle. It said one gunman was killed and two others were wounded, and that soldiers uncovered two automatic weapons and ammunition.
