Suspected militants bomb polling station in Pakistan

Suspected militants detonated more than a dozen bombs at a polling station in Pakistan's volatile northwest Saturday, badly damaging the roof and walls but causing no casualties, a tribal police officer said.
It was not clear if the attack in Khar was aimed at disrupting Monday's parliamentary election, said the officer, Mowaz Khan. Khar is the main town in Bajur, a tribal area bordering Afghanistan.
The bombs went off before dawn at a partially constructed jail that was going to be used as a polling station, Khan said. The station was unoccupied at the time of the blasts, he said.
Separately, armed men abducted a paramilitary soldier who was guarding a weekly market in Khar, Khan said. Islamic militants were also suspected in that attack, he said.
