Gilad Schalit went for medical checks at a hospital in central Israel on Tuesday morning. He was accompanied by his parents Noam and Aviva.
Upon returning to Israel from Hamas captivity last week, the IDF announced that Schalit will undergo a series of comprehensive tests after the initial examination conducted on him.

It was found that he suffered from a slight injury in his hand caused by shrapnel, and vitamin deficiency as a result of not being exposed to sunlight.
In the coming days Schalit is expected to undergo his first security debriefing on his kidnapping and time in captivity, during which he will discuss his experiences over the past five-and-a-half years.
Schalit has declined various invitations since his release, such as an offer from the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team to watch the game on Thursday.
On Monday, President Shimon Peres paid Schalit a visit at his home in Mitzpe Hila. "You have no idea how emotionally moving it is for me to meet you here in your home, alive and well," Peres told the freed IDF soldier. "I may be the oldest person here, but I'm the most excited," he said.
Peres made the trip from Jerusalem to tell Schalit what joy his homecoming from a long term of incarceration had brought to the nation and to Peres personally.
