Shakshuka is a dish of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, and onions, often spiced with cumin. Check out Chef Yochanan's simple guide and you'll be in shakshuka heaven in no time!
What you will need:
Olive oil
Non stick fry pan
Half a chopped onion
Chopped garlic
Spicy chili peppers
Chopped tomatoes
Secret recipe tomato sauce (sweet paprika, tomato paste cumin, spices and "a lot of love")
Eggs
Basil
Coriander
Green onion (chopped)
STEP 1
Throw onion,garlic and peppers into piping hot pan and shake around. Throw in tomatoes
STEP 2
Add 2 table spoons of secret tomato sauce, then drop your eggs into the center of your pan.
Throw in fresh basil, put on lid, turn down to medium heat for 5 minutes. Cooking time varies depending how you like your eggs.
STEP 3Add coriander and chopped green onion to garnish your shakshuka. Other optional garnishes include fried eggplant, olives, tehina, cream cheese, roasted peppers with garlic. Enjoy your Jewish Israeli cuisine.FINAL PRODUCT
