Frontlines Podcast: Riots in the Holy City

Jerusalem Reporter sheds light on the implications of the uptick of violence in east Jerusalem; Berlin correspondent Benjamin Weinthal discusses dominant views in Germany towards Israel.

Riots in the Holy City
This week saw yet again rioting and violence in east Jerusalem following the death of a Palestinian boy from the area who died a week after being hit by a sponge bullet fired by the IDF. Waves of this type of violence have been seen in Jerusalem since the murder of Palestinian teenager Muhammad Abu Khadir by Jewish extremists at the beginning of July. The Jerusalem Post's Jerusalem Reporter Daniel Eisenbud discusses the measures taken to maintain calm in the capital, as well as digging deeper to the root of the problem.
Also this week, a top German politician of the country's main opposition party called into question the export of arms to Israel. Benjamin Weinthal, a Post reporter covering European affairs from Berlin and a fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, assesses the likelihood of such a move being brought to fruition, and ahead of the annual anti-Semitism rally, suggests ways in which such events can have an impact.
Each week, the Jerusalem Post Frontlines Podcast brings you behind-the-scenes interviews with the Post's top reporters, editors and columnists, as well as special interviews with Israeli experts and politicians to offer insight, commentary and opinion on the biggest stories in Israel.
