“The decision to remove this shameful [figure] is correct, but does not remove the stain on those who placed him there," Livni says.

A recently removed life-sized caveman figure at Jerusalem's Cinema City baring a striking resemblance to former environmental protection minister Amir Peretz (Hatnua), has one of the nation’s leading politicians incensed amid accusations of impropriety. In a statement released Monday by Hatnua head Tzipi Livni, the MK condemned the offending figurine as a “disgrace, intolerable and ugly.”Noting Peretz is a public figure deserving respect for his many contributions to Israeli society, Livni said that any attempt to besmirch him should be rejected with “disgust” by the public.Although Livni commended Cinema City’s management for removing the caveman, she said that its damage remains indelible.“The decision to remove this shameful [figure] is correct, but does not remove the stain on those who placed him there in the first place,” she said, adding that Peretz is owed an apology. It remains unclear if the figure was indeed meant to mock the politician.
